What Is an RGS (Remote Game Server)?
An RGS hosts game logic and results for online casino games. Learn what it does and why owning one matters for a game studio.
A remote game server (RGS) is the back-end that runs online casino games. It holds the game logic and the random number generator, works out every result, and talks to the operator’s wallet. The game client in the browser only shows what the RGS decides.
What an RGS does
- Runs the game maths and random outcomes.
- Manages player sessions and single-use launch URLs.
- Calls the operator wallet to debit stakes and credit wins.
- Keeps a round-by-round history for audits and disputes.
Why 3i Studio runs its own RGS
Owning the RGS means we control delivery end to end. We can release a new game to every connected partner at once, fix issues without waiting on a third party, and give operators one technical contact for every title.
RGS versus aggregator
An aggregator connects one operator to many studios. An RGS delivers one studio’s games. Many operators use both: an aggregator for breadth, and a direct RGS connection for key suppliers. 3i Studio supports both routes. See distribution options.
